A how-to for TDS-3 Professional.

You may wish to print or otherwise save the instructions below.

1: You can download TDS-3 Professional by clicking here and save it to your desktop.

2: Download the update (an up to date list of trojan 'signatures') for TDS-3, radius.td3 and save that to your desktop as well. If you do not download this update, TDS will not be current and able to secure your system.

3: Once you have downloaded these two files, physically disconnect your computer from the internet. If you are on DSL or use a cable modem, simply disconnect the network cable. This cable looks very similar to a phone cable, and can be unplugged from the back of your computer, or from the cable or ADSL modem. The network cable is the cable plugged into a card in the back of the computer that looks somewhat like a phone jack. For those on dialup, simply disconnect as normal.

The reason we suggest this is to prevent the hacker (Bad Guy) from sitting in the background and sabotaging your efforts, or damaging the system out of spite now that they've been caught.

4: Double click (with the left hand mouse button) on the TDS-3.exe file on your desktop to install the program. The installer will walk you through that process. Once the installation is complete, restart your computer.

5: Now that the system is restarted, you will need to drag and drop the radius.td3 file into the TDS folder that was created by the installer. For those new to this, you can right click with your mouse on the file radius.td3 and choose copy from the drop down menu.

Then right click on the 'My Computer' icon and choose explore. Find the + beside your C drive (this is your hard drive). Another list of folders will appear. Find the folder labelled 'TDS' and click on the folder to highlight it, and on the right side there will be a list of files.

Right click on some white space on the right side of the window where the files are, and choose paste from the drop down menu. If you are prompted to overwrite an existing file, choose 'ok". You are simply replacing an older file with a more current one.

6: At this point, you're ready to get started. Click on Start, and then Programs, then select TDS-3, and then click on the TDS program from the menu to get started..

7: TDS-3 will initially scan for active trojans on your system when it starts. Be patient, this takes a few minutes.

8: Go to the top of the TDS-3 program window, and find the menu option labelled 'System Testing'. Click on 'System Testing' and then select 'Full System Scan'.

9: At this point, you can kick back and relax for awhile. This is a long process, as the TDS-3 program will be scanning every file on your system in it's hunt for the trojan. Any trojans it locates will appear in a window at the bottom of the application. Anything TDS-3 lists in that window, you will be able to right click on and have the option to delete. Once the scan is complete, plug your network cable back in and restart the computer.

11: Once your system has been secured, it would be a good idea to register this application to protect you from future computer break ins. You can do this by clicking here

Registering the application and leaving it running in the background is an excellent preventative measure to ensure the security of your computer and the data on it.
